The economy on the upturn: From llama to tiger cub?Taking a look at the history of the Philippine economy, we learn that in the years after World War II, the country was one of the most dynamic economies in the Asian region, second only to Japan.  We were then hailed  by the World Bank as a future powerhouse.

The economy was mainly fueled by agriculture; but in 1960 the industrial sector started to grow.   It developed very fast and soon we were poised to take our place among industrialized countries.
